Hallelujah!

Movie night at Beverly last night was pretty cool. The weather was super nice and Eric from the YMCA even kicked down for some Pizzas for everyone! Sticky was so excited about the free pizza he didn't even stop eating while he was skating, check out the picture of his krooked grind mid-bite. After the video we set up some lights and skated a little and even did a quick best trick contest on the stairs and rail. Zach was killing it with some crazy no complies and a double flip, Jon did a solid smith on the rail, and Sticky did a good looking fs nosegrind on the rail but best trick went to Scott who landed a nollie laser flip after landing primo a couple times. Scott went home with a new Blood Wizard deck for his efforts. Thanks to everyone who showed up especially Eric, Ben and the crew from the YMCA, Kevin, Nolan, Matt, Dave and Sticky for helping out and Bryan for hooking up the deck from Blood Wizard.

Go Skateboarding Day : Beverly Park

I hope everyone had a good Go Skateboarding Day. The weather was super nice so Fred, Nate, Matt and I packed what ramps would fit into Fred's truck and went to Beverly. We brought the up ledge and the wedge kicker ramp we have and also brought the P.A. system so we could play some music. we set up the kicker over the picnic table, then turned the table to skate it like a ledge. Matt lane decided he didn't need the kicker and did nose blunts on the table from flat. Robert Connors blurred the line between our snowboard and skate team and landed a sick wallride from quarter to quarter after we put the ledge going across and over the bank. Here are a few pictures Daijel took and I filmed some stuff so check back for an edit and check Daijel's facebook for more photos. -Mark

BEVERLY CLEAN UP Part 1 : Orange you glad you got a shirt?

Sunday was the date that we originally planned the Vans Skatepark Clean Up at the Beverly park. After the initial weather reports calling for rain we decided to reschedule for Thursday the 23rd. After talking to the guys from the Dew Tour, who couldn't reschedule and looking at the weather as Sunday got closer we decided to go down to the park anyways. The rain held off even though most off the day it seemed like it might rain at any second. It was definitely hot but we set up the grill cooked some dogs, played some music and did a 14 and under contest for the kids that did show up. Matt and the rest of the Dew Tour crew had a ton of stuff to give away to anyone who wanted it. They even raffled off an Ogio backpack filled with stuff including 2 tickets to the Dew Tour in Boston this weekend!

Above : Top- The Dew Crew setting up and Fred chillin' as we we're about to fire up the grill. Left- Colin Mulchahey came in 1st in the contest and picked up a pair of Dew Tour tickets, some Element and Vans gear and a pair of Skull Candy headphones. Center- I don't remember this guys name but he won the backpack and some Dew Tour tickets. Right- Casey Silva ripped it up in the contest and just missed the top 3 but got hooked up with a pair of tickets just for being a rad little kid.

Above : Billy D with a Back D and Paul Viera Pop Shuv.
All in all it was a fun day and we are still planning on also doing a contest this Thursday at Beverly so stop by, help up clean up, grab a hot dog and skate. Be there at 1:00 to sign up.

Beverly Game of Skate

Thanks to everyone who came out Sunday to the Game of Skate at the Beverly Park. 42 people ended up throwing $3.00 each into the pot that we then split up to use as prize money. The wind was definitely a factor but was an equal disadvantage to everyone. The 42 got whittled down to a final four Matt Lane, Nick Fuller-Porter, Pat Hickey and John Desimas. The final match up of the day ended up being Pat Hickey Vs. John Desimas after Nick and Matt played for third. In the end it was Pat Hickey at the top of the heap. Pat ended up with $60.00 cash a Real/Focus collabo Deck, a hand cut Eastern Boarder cruiser deck, Mixed Effect and Greater Boston DVDs, some stuff from DVS including a flask and a Scarehouse shirt. John took home $40.00 for second and also got a couple DVDs and some DVS stuff and Nick ended up taking third and got whatever cash was left (about $15.00 and a handful of change) a Greater Boston DVD and some misc. DVS stuff.

After the Game Of Skate we did a best trick jam on the bench and after about a dozen people sessioned the bench for about 20 minutes or so we called it in favor of Geoff Laskey who also got hand cut EB cruiser deck. After we wrapped things up some of us headed up to Rye for Brace Jam.

Check back soon, I may post up video of both the G.O.S. and Brace Jam.

Huge thanks to Rob Pontes, Real and DVS, Kevin Leslie, Al Pechilas, Chris Sharp for helping out. Brandon and everyone at the McPherson Youth Center for letting us use the park and basketball courts and Daijel White for taking some photos.

Bench Session

Now that the days are getting so short, we broke out the lights and went down to Beverly the other night. As you can see we also busted out the smoke machine.

Earlier in the summer Kevin, Dave and Derek LeMoine from Red Alert went on trip to Providence with Andy from Steez magazine and photographer Chris DeGrace. The idea was to do a one day mini-tour article for the mag. The issue of the magazine just came out and you can check it out online by clicking on the photo below.

Know The Ledge Results

Thanks to everyone that came to Beverly Skatepark yesterday for the Know The Ledge contest. The Weather looked tike it was going to be an issue but the rain stopped early and the park dried up quickly. A pretty elite group of 20 skaters was split into 5 groups of 4 and each group got 5 minutes to skate the bench. 5 finalist were then chosen (1 from each group). The judges did not have an easy job but the 5 finalists ended up being Dave Begonis, Dana Ericson, John Desimas, Zeb Weisman, and John Wisdom.
The final group was given 15 minutes to to session the bench and again didn't make it easy on the judges but in the end it ended up like this.

1st - Zeb Weisman $100.00, iPod Nano (loaded with the playlist from the contest) , DC Shoes, and RAW shirt
2nd - Dana Ericson $80.00, Shull Candy Headphones, and RAW shirt
3rd - John Wisdom $60.00, and RAW shirt

After the bench contest was over it was time for the High Ollie contest.
In the least surprising news of the day Pat Hickey won the high ollie after taking the bar up to 38" and went home with a pair of DC's and some cash.

We also did a best trick over the bleachers off of the bank ramp. Lance ended up taking that with a nollie backside flip. Other standouts were Dave Begonis who did nollie back bigspin, and Zeb with a switch kickflip.
Then we did a best trick on the barrier quarterpipe and the GB crew came through with Billy D. winning with a blunt kickflip to fakie and Ryan Shea getting second for his overall destruction and as always "crazy" Chris Mac put on a show.

Kevin, Ray, Steve and the RAW crew for coming up and helping out, Skip at Scion for hooking us up with some prizes, , Chris, Julie, Mac, Tommy J, Ryan and Evan Oppedisano, Ryan Shea, all the kids who helped us clean up.

After the contest we got down at Chris's house with some burgers and dogs the skated over to the after-after party.
