Rome Ima Betta Jibba

PhotobucketIma Betta Jibba: College Backyard Jib Contest.

Most college snowboard crews already have some sort of set-up to mess around on, whether it is a couple rails or boxes in someone’s backyard, a snake-run through campus or even just some barrels or stumps to do some bonking on. Some crews have even put stuff together that would rival their local park.

Well, here’s your chance to get the recognition you deserve for all your hard work at school. Either get off the couch and build that set-up you talked about doing all fall, or just go out and spruce up the set-up you’ve already built. Shoot a short video, snap some photos and send them in to winner@romesnowboards.com by February 1st, 2010.

What you can win: we’ll be choosing the top College Jib-Park and sending a few Rome Team members over to shred and put together a video edit with the winners. For good measure we’ll also be hooking the crew up with a couple new Rome boards.

Entries must be in by February 1st 2010.

For more news and Rome SDS happenings keep an eye on www.romesnowboards.com, www.facebook.com/romesnowboards and www.twitter.com/romesds.

Justin Strubing

The guys at Low Card have nominated Justin Strubing for worst skater of the year. I guess they hate it when their friends become successful.

Viva Skate Part 1 and 2 of 5

For somewhere so close, Cuba is a world away as far as culture goes.
Photobucket
Chris Nieratko and a crew of skaters barged the embargo in Cuba to hook some kids up with some new boards and shoes.

Part 1 Part 2

My favorite part is when the guy puts the truck on backwards and Nieratko tells him he should work at Zumiez.

The Feast That Keeps On Giving

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving but get ready for another Feast over at the Transworld site. They just posted a bunch of sequences from the flip Demo at Rye.

There's also a few more behind the scenes photos from the tour on the
Flip Site and even more stuff if you're following the team on Twitter.

FLIP FEAST TOUR

The Flip Feast tour is a wrap. If you didn't make it to the Demo at Rye Airfield you seriously missed out. 3 Thrasher S.O.T.Y. all at one demo! Some of the sickest up and coming Ams, current Trasworld cover boy David Gonzalez, and legend Lance Mountain! While in town the team hung out with the guys from Orchard and went to some famous local spots like the C Bowl and stopped at Doug Moore's ramp Hellgate.

This is a re-edit of the Flip demo with a couple tricks I missed the first go around.

Here is a clip by Craig Martin, he got a lot of the strret stuff I missed.

Here's another clip floating the web that is somewhat Flip related because if features former Flip rider Bastien Salabanzi. Sick skating for sure but his end-zone dance reminded me of this.

Steve Claar

I just saw this Steve Claar G&S deck on Craigslist for only $30.00. This deck was reissued but I still was stoked to see it.

Here is another one of his pro models that is way cooler.
Photobucket
Steve at some point had his leg amputated, I don't know why. I believe he still skates, I found this photo here, it was labeled Steve Clair but I'm pretty sure that's him.
Photobucket
You can find more Steve Claar stuff at Vert Is Dead
