Make it Count.

A little over a week ago the Element team rolled through the shop, hung out for awhile, and signed some stuff. Afterwards they all went into Boston for another signing at Orchard shop as well as a demo, here is the video the Orchard guys filmed during it.
All in all it was a good time, everyone was super nice and the demo had a good turnout so hopefully this will be a motivational factor in getting teams to come around here and do demos more often!


The next day Element's "Make it Count" contest series took place down at the Greenside park in Rhode Island, it was a packed house and a lot of ripping took place. Keep an eye out for a few of our team guys in the video, Nolan Cormier got a few hard tricks down the bank next to the stairs and Matt Lane had some good stuff as well. In the end Kevin Phelps took the whole thing, he skated solid the entire contest and definitely deserved it.

Happy Halloween

Zero Demo Video and Pictures

On Wednesday the ZERO TEAM stopped by the Eastern Boarder Nashua. Nashua was the first stop on the teams Halloween Tour and the guys dressed the part and showed up in full costumes. First they stopped at the shop where they were hyped to see Eric wearing an over-sized Misled Youth VHS tape costume. Then it was over to the park where they shredded till the light went off. Check out the video and I'm sure that there will be a tour article and video to come.

Worcester

The guys at the Worcester EB set up a little demo/skate jam thing at the W2W (Welcome to Worcester) festival. Kevin, Richard and I drove out there to check it out and enjoy the perfect weather.

We hung out at the demo then checked out the 2 up, 2 down spot and scratched our heads looking at the 15 across the street that Gallant ollied in WHL.

On the way home we saw these sick old cars on the back of a trailer on the highway. Looks like this guy's got a project on his hands.

Lawrence Movement City

Last week we went back up to Lawrence to hang out with our buddy Castro and the kids from the Movement City Youth Network. It was raining so we couldn't go to the park but they took us to an empty mill building that the center owns. All we had to skate was a flat bar and a small box but it was still fun. It was the last session since it's an after school program, but I'm sure we will be back up there in the fall, once the program starts up again. Thanks to Castro and all the kids from Movement City and Dave, Kevin and Fred for helping out with this. See you guys in the fall.

Dew Tour Demo : Woburn High

Just got back from another EB team demo with the guys from the Dew Tour. This time we went to Woburn High School where we skated for a while and the team from the Dew Tour hooked up some of the kids with shirts and some other gear.

DID THE DEW

Yesterday Matt Lane, Fred Hein, Dave Begonis and I drove down to Foxboro to do a demo at the New England Revolution game. The demo was to help promote the Dew Tour Skate Open which is coming up on June 25th and 26th at the TD Garden in Boston. The whole drive down there it was pouring out but it stopped raining when we got there and it dried up pretty quick.

Matt warmed up with an indy air as Dave and Shaun White look on.

After the vert sesh Matt took it to the street with a front board up and off the bump to bar as it was drying out. After the demo the guys from the Dew Tour hooked us up with tickets to the game and some burgers. During the game Preston Burpo the goalie for the Revolution collided with another player and ended up joining the "Hall of Meat" with a gnarly leg break. At half time Nick Dompierre and Anthony Shetler busted out the T-Shirt canon and blasted the crowd as well as hooking up a lucky kid with a signed deck. DEW TOUR DEMO

This Saturday some of our team guys will be joining Nick Dompierre and Anthony Shetler from the Dew Tour at a demo at the New England Revolution game at Gillette stadium in Foxboro.

Acton Park "EB Demo"

On Friday Matt Lane, Dave, Kevin and I drove out to Acton to meet up with Tim from Clayface, Pat, Jon and the Shape crew and a bunch of guys from all the other EB shops to skate, eat hot dogs, listen to local bands and celebrate the parks anniversary. There was a serious crew there incuding Dave Bachinsky, Nick Lamarche, Serge Murphy, BK, Dyllon Horne, Justin Clement, but it was Tom Kruper who "won the demo" with kickflips, a backside 360, and a switch frontside bigspin off of the drop and into the bank. To continue my streak of blowing it I didn't film any of Tom's afore mentioned tricks but did get some good footage. enjoy!

FLIP FEAST TOUR AT RYE

Old Photo : Needles Park

This picture is of Mike Vallely at a demo at Needles Park in Boston. I'm pretty sure needles wasn't actually the name of the park but everyone called it that because of all the used syringes, hookers were also plentiful at the park. The park was right across from New England Medical Center T station. Beacon Hill Skates used to be right across the street on the other side of the park. Beacon Hill Skates was a weird little place that used to be on Beacon Hill right around the corner from the Frog Pond in the Commons. They rented and sharpened ice skates then somehow transitioned into selling skateboards. Eventually the shop moved down the street to the other side of the commons and to a much different type of neighborhood (remember the syringes and hookers). I'm pretty sure at the time they were the only place in the city that sold skateboards except for Maximus which wasn't yet a skatepark and was much more out of the way if you were a pre-teen skate rat with no car. Beacon Hill Skates eventually became a pretty rad shop with a huge selection and they hosted a few demos and contests at "Needles" but they never stopped sharpening ice skates. I'm pretty sure the shop is still there and still renting and sharpening ice skates but no longer has anything to do with skateboards. This picture was taken at a TV Demo. TV was a board company started by Templeton and Vallely (TV get it?) and Jahmal Williams also rode for them. I also remember seeing a World Industries demo there with Rodney Mullen, Rudy Johnson, and I think Guy was there and maybe Chris Branagh. Even when there wasn't a demo most of the time if you went to the park you would likely see some of the best Boston street guys like Jahmal, Robbie Gangemi, Adam Ayre, Matt Pailes or others hanging out skating. The stairs and everything fun to skate at the park is gone since they remodeled it and pretty much just put in flat sidewalks but there is a handicapped ramp with a rail that Robbie grinded up at the end of his Mix Tape part!

Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk showed up at the Groton Ct. skatepark for a surprise demo on Tuesday. Tony will be going up to Rye Airfield on Sunday at 2:00pm. Don't miss out on a chance to see a legend in person.

Hudson Jam Pictures

The Hudson Jam was Awesome! Tons of people showed up including a good size crew from the North Shore. Kevin, Dave and I got there early and met Rob from DVS, Mike and some of the guys from One Luv Boardshop and all the Worcester EB guys. I spent all day filming leaving me with one hell of a sunburn. Here are a few pictures to hold you over until I get to edit the footage. Thanks to everyone that came out and a BIG THANKS to DVS, Clayface, One Luv and mother nature for a perfect day.
