Andover Concrete Carnage

Concrete Carnage at the Andover Skatepark went off on Saturday!

Derek Hanlon (above) was one of the few who showed up in costume (The Fantastic Mr. Fox). He was also one of the few that reached the top of the tombstone. The tombstone was built by my friend Jason at Inflatable Anchor and he did an awesome job making it look like an actual tombstone, to go along with the halloween theme of the contest. The top of the tombstone stood about 4'8" over the top of the coping which at that point in the bowl is probably about 5' high. The top of the tombstone was a solid piece of 8" concrete, the thing was no joke.

Nick "Ace" Bratko (above left) and Sean Hernandez (above right) both made it look easy to get tricks on the top of the tombstone. The hardest part for those guys was navigating though the heated snake session and getting a clean line at it with enough speed.

it was no surprise to see Nolan Cormier (above) going faster than everyone and probably having the most fun out of everyone too.

Derek won a Zero deck for best costume, too bad you can't see his tail in this shot. Some other major players in the bowl were Ace Bratko who has put a hurting on just about every bowl in the northeast, Ben Ross was there blurring the line between our skate and snowboard teams. The young guns from Pioneers came down and were killing it. There was also a jam on the pyramid and the rail/hubba where Serge, Desimas, and Jay Clement put on a show. For some photos from the pyramid and rail and more photos and sequences from the bowl click here.
